Level Up Quest

Quests are short storylines narrated by a character that integrate with the LMS.

Objectives are assigned for the learner to complete. Upon completion of their objectives, learners can receive a reward, or side effects can be triggered.

Some quests can be made optional, where it is up to the learner to decide whether to accept them, a neat way to let them take responsibility for their learning and personalise their learning experience.

Quests are a great way to integrate storytelling, to guide learners through their materials, build onboarding, and more!

Achievements are celebratory events to congratulate learners on attaining milestones.

The list of achievements to unlock is shared with the learner to motivate them to attain them all.

Achievements do not have to be tied to learning objectives, they can (and should) celebrate annex events. Some examples are:

• Watching your first video.
• Logging in each day of the week.
• Completing a large number of activities.

Challenges are objectives with an optional time constraint and recurrence.

They are a great way to incentivise continuous engagement with the platform, and to encourage the completion of certain tasks within a given time frame.

Moreover, learners can be given a reward for each challenge they complete.

Streaks show how many consecutive days (or weeks) learners meet their assigned objectives. Missing a day breaks the streak which motivates regular participation.

Streaks can be built around any goal, from simply visiting the course to completing quizzes and watching videos.

Pair streaks with achievements and challenges to reward learners for reaching a streak of a high level.

Quests and achievements are displayed to the learner with a visual.

Level Up Quest includes several sets of images for instructors to choose from. Get started right away with an extensive built-in library suited for multiple purposes!

Use your own images for quest narrators, achievements, etc.

Each plan defines how many custom assets of each type can be used in each context. For example, the Pro package lets you set up to 18 custom achievement badges in each course.

Create quests, achievements, challenges or streaks that span across the entire website.

With this feature, you can track actions performed in any course and assign learners with objectives that are not restricted to individual courses.

Get in-depth analysis of the performance of learners within their quests and achievements.

Insights will:

• Show the overall completion rate so you know how many learners completed their objectives.
• Analyse the time for learners to complete their objectives.
• Break down the ongoing progress rate.
• Etc.

Require learners to complete activities, sections, or even entire courses.

This objective is a great way to require learners to progress through their content.

Require learners to take quizzes.

This can used with an individual quiz or multiple quizzes, as a mean to encourage attempting and even re-attempting them.

For the cases where the result of the quiz matters, instructors can require a minimum grade to be met before the objective is met.

Entice learners into the platform, or their courses.

This objective monitors when learners access the site, or courses, and can track their amount and frequency.

Encourage learners to communicate amongst themselves.

Track whether learners are sending, receiving or reading private messages.

Note that the content of the communications always remains private.

Create objectives and tasks around videos.

Track how many videos learners are watching to completion, or the amount of time they have spent consuming video content.

Nobody likes empty profiles.

This objective tracks whether learners have completed their profile, or uploaded a profile picture.

Mark which fields are expected to be completed, and witness learners fill in their information to complete their objectives.

Not all objectives need to happen within the LMS. Perhaps you have organised a workshop, or a team-building day.

This objective type is manually marked completed by an instructor based on their own criteria.

Build system integrating with Level Up Quest by triggering the completion of objectives from external sources.

Limit access to course content based on the status of a quest, or an achievement.

This enables instructor to unlock access to parts of a course when some objectives have been completed, whether it'd be to reward a learner, or to gradually provide access to more and more advanced topics.

Badges are a feature built-in Moodle. Quest enables you to dynamically award badges based on your own set of criteria.

Automatically send private messages to learners. This is a great way to personify the learning experience.

Alternatively, messages can be delivered using Moodle's built-in notification system.

Enrol learners in another course when they have completed the required objectives.

Send direct emails to learners.

Add, or remove, the learner from groups.

This can be used for many different reasons, for instance we could imagine that completing a certain number of objectives promotes the learner to another "tier" of learners identified by a group.

Assign, or unassign, a role and its permissions to a learner.

This can be used to satisfy some internal business logic, or to grant the learner more or less permissions in their course.

Add, or remove, the learner from cohorts.

Cohorts are groups of users managed outside of a course.

Full compatibility with Level Up XP.

You can track a learner's level and the number of points they earn and create objectives from those.

You may also award points to learners for completing their objectives.

Stash is gamification plugin where learners can collect items spread across a course.

Level Up Quest integrates with Stash and can track the quantity of items owned by a learner, or award an item as a reward for completing their objectives.

The system can fire webhooks to endpoints of your choosing when objectives are completed.

The information collected by the Moodle plugin is contained within the Moodle installation and is never transmitted, communicated, or shared with us or third parties. All core mechanisms are executed within Moodle itself.

Level Up Quest conforms to Moodle's requirements for GDPR and data privacy compliance.
