XP 19 & Quest 1.8: Improved and Ready for Moodle 5.1

XP 19 and Quest 1.8 focus on the polish that speeds up everyday tasks and makes progress more visible where it matters. You'll place leaderboards anywhere, shape smarter mission flows, and fine-tune objectives with more precision. All that while being fully compatible with Moodle 5.1 on day one.

XP 19: Put progress in context, anywhere

Leaderboards are most impactful when learners see them in the moments that count. With XP 19, leaderboards can be embedded anywhere—including outside a course. Whether it's the site home, a dashboard, a landing page, or right within a weekly module, you can showcase progress where it motivates most. Team leaderboards can be embedded too, making it simple to celebrate collaboration alongside friendly competition.

We've made a range of quality-of-life improvements to keep you in the flow while designing. Small changes, thoughtfully placed, that help you move faster without getting in your way.

If you manage a catalogue of courses, admins can reset all courses to the default admin settings with a single action. It's a quick way to bring everything back in line when you want consistency across your learning environment.

And for teams that need to retain engagement data longer, XP+ now supports extending log retention up to two years.

Quest 1.8: Automations that flow, objectives that fit

Quest 1.8 introduces recruitment automations based on the state of a quest or a challenge, making it easier to design the branching journeys you had in mind. Start a time-bound challenge as soon as a mission begins. Route learners to a follow-up quest when a challenge isn't completed. Send them down a bonus path when a milestone is reached. The result is smoother chains and more advanced flows with less setup friction and a cleaner learner experience.

Objectives have been refined to better match real-world design needs. You can track the value of a profile field, which is particularly powerful in enterprise environments where profile data is synchronised from external systems.

The "watch video" objective can be aimed at videos within a specific activity, helping you keep targets tightly aligned to content. And "complete section" can ignore activities that are unavailable, so learners aren't held back by items they can't access.

Streaks now support fortnightly and monthly cadences, giving you more flexibility to match the rhythm of your program—whether you're encouraging steady weekly engagement or celebrating longer-term consistency.

Design and support feel snappier too. Instructors can view the relationships between quests and jump straight to what they need, and access a recruit's overview from more places—handy when you're monitoring progress or making quick adjustments.

These updates bring practical refinements that speed up design, make progress more visible, and give you sharper control over learning journeys, while being all ready for Moodle 5.1. For an exhaustive list of changes, be sure to check out our XP and Quest release notes.
